Importing Scantron test results into the WebCT Vista Gradebook

 
Scantron data can not be imported directly to the Grade Book in Vista. The text file you receive from Data Center will need to be formatted before it can be imported in your Grade Book in Vista. There are 2 steps in the process and step-by-step instructions are below.
Step 1 - Format the Scantron text file in to a format that can be imported in to Vista Grade Book
1. Go to: http://vistahelp.kent.edu/forms/ScantronGrade.htm. Enable Pop-ups for this site before you begin.

2. Log in

3. Click on Browse and select the text file you received from the data center. Click Open

5. Click Format

6. Once you click format you'll see some red text in the bottom of the window and a link called Download Scantron File. Right-click on the hyperlink and choose Save Target As... from the contextual menu. Save that file on your computer in a location that you can easily find. This file will be imported in Vista in Step 2.
Note: This formatting only converts the text file format so that it can be imported in to Vista Grade book.

Step 2 - Importing the formatted file in Vista Grade Book
1. Log in to your course in Vista ( https://vista.kent.edu )
2. From the Teach tab go to the Gradebook

3. In your Gradebook, click Import from Spreadsheet

4. Browse for the file that you had saved in step 6 above, on your computer.

5. Click Open and then Upload

6. In the next screen you'll be able to select the name of the column where the grade will be put into your Gradebook. You cannot import the grades into a column that was created for an Assessment or Assignment.

7. You'll see any errors listed in the next screen. The errors are mainly due to wrong BannerID's. Take note as these students grades will need to be manually entered. Click OK.

8. Check the column in your gradebook for the uploaded grades
