Uploading completed files into iTunes U

Visit iTunes U in the iTunes Store
 
1. Get started with the uploading process by first downloading and installing iTunes

2. Have your materials ready to post - see instructions for creating content
iTunes supports a number of file types, to simplify the process you might stick with two basics: Audio should be in MP3 format and Video should be in MP4. See the iTunes U Creating Content (http://images.apple.com/support/itunes_u/docs/iTunes_U_Creating_Content.pdf) a portion of the Apple site for a more detailed listing of supported files.
As you develop your audio and/or video content keep in mind the laws about copyright. Please check the iTunes U Copyright Overview (PDF) for an easy guide to copyright laws.
 
3. Log into KSU's iTunes U Administration site with your Flashline username and password

4. iTunes will launch and open to the KSU Administrative site once you enter your information and click the Login button. The main KSU iTunes U site is first to load with a list of courses available. As a faculty member you will have your own course page that has been previously created for you by the iTunes U administrator. Browse to your course in order to edit.

5. Once you are in your own course you can begin to edit the contents of the page visible to others. Links on the right side of the page allow you to complete a variety of tasks.
The links you work with most will be 'Edit Page' and 'Upload Files'

  • Edit Page - interface including course title, description, links, tabs, and Guest Public account access

  • Edit Access - For iTunes U administrators to add faculty and guests to KSU's iTunes U

  • Upload Files - Opens a new browser window to allow uploads of supported file formats

  • iTunes U Support - URL to an iTunes U support site that includes tutorials and educational info

  • Logout - Log out of iTunes U
 
    1. Upload Files - Upload audio and video files as well as PDF files

      1. Choose the tab you wish to upload to
      2. Click the 'Add Track(s)' icon
        browse
      3. Click 'Browse' to locate the file you wish to upload and click 'Open'
      4. Once the file fully uploads it will appear in your list of files. Use the arrows to move the file up or down the page.
      5. Click the 'Return to iTunes' icon to close the browser and return to iTunes
 
    1. Edit Page - Click on this button and multiple items on your page now have an edit pencil next to them which will allow you to edit that item
      1. include a set of links for students
        • The pencil next to 'Links' will allow you to rename the Links

        • The pencil next to the link allows you to edit the existing link
        • The plus sign allows you to add another link
      2. create multiple tabs in your course with varying user rights
        • have a student 'drop box' tab that would allow students to post files into iTunes U for the instructor to view
        • include a 'shared' tab for students to upload and share with the class.
        • Use the edit pencils to rename existing tabs

      3. Edit course information

        • Edit pencils allow you to edit the text (Course sub-title and description)
        • The up arrow on the image allows you to replace the existing image or upload an image.
      4. Edit Access to your course content and tabs (You will see a list of the iTunes U support team who all have Edit access to KSU iTunes U courses.
        • Select the tab you wish to edit. The only access you can change is for the Guest Public Account. Options include:
          1.  Download (standard option)
          2. Drop Box (allows students or others to upload content for the course owner to view
          3. Shared (allows students and others to share uploaded content with each-other)
          4. Edit allows users to make changes to the tab contents (not something you would select for the Guest Public Account).

      5. Click 'End Editing' when you're finished – this is in the same location as the Edit Page button.
